TIP #100 - This tip was sent on the week: 30th Jul - 5th Aug, 2006

100 ESI PRO & Translation Part XV - Writing and Translating Well

This tip applies to the following programs:

• ESI Professional

• Translation in General

It goes around that in Real Estate, there are three basic conditions that must be met for a property to obtain good market value and for it to sell easily. These three requirements are:

  • Good location
  • Good location
  • Good location

Drawing a parallelism with the world of Automatic Translation, we have reached the conclusion that the three basic requirements for a text to have good communication value and for it to be understandable and translatable by a computer are:

  • Good punctuation
  • Good punctuation
  • Good punctuation

Tip of the week → Try taking any phrase and placing or taking away the commas along different places within the sentence, and try doing the same thing also with the accents (in Spanish); you will see the changes in ESI’s renditions. This will be an interesting exercise that will serve as part of your training for writing correctly, because next time you will take better care of where you place your commas and accents so as not to be misunderstood, or worse still, so that the Reader does not understand a totally different thing.

This is a way of using ESI as a learning tool.
