This is yet another feature that you will find only in Word Magic Software dictionaries: the ability to search for words with a specific number and combination of letters.
If you like to play Scrabble, this is a tool that would allow you to beat your opponent in a wink.
This is how this works.
-
Suppose you want a list of five-letter words selected from the entire English (or Spanish) dictionary. Go to “Set Search Options“
, “Other Options” and then select “Single Words Only”. Click OK and type five question marks in the Word Entry Box, as follows:
?????
Click [ENTER] and observe the results: 3,676 five-letter words.
- Now, suppose you want the five-letter words to end in an “a”. Type in:
????a
The results are reduced to 155 words.

- Now, let put in an additional restriction: the five-letter words should not only end in an “a” but also have an “o” at the third position. Type in:
??o?a
Result: 10 words.
- Just for curiosity’s sake: how many three-letter words can we find in the Spanish dictionary?
Just type in three question marks, ???, and see the results. Surprisingly, there are 375 three-letter words in Spanish. However, these do not include verbal conjugations, which will be a new addition to Version 5.0
