What is a Certified Translation?

Certified translations are used for a wide range of purposes and reasons.  One of the most requested reasons is for the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).  They mandate that if your immigration documents are in a language different than English, you must submit a certified translation.  This means that a translator has certified that he or she is competent in that language, and is able to translate from that specific language into English.  This requires their signature and date, along with the translation.

One aspect of a certified translation versus a normal translation is that it must be a word-for-word translation, and not a summary or any adjustments in language.  This is routine for things like birth certificates, marriage documents, and other important personal documents.

Here at WordMagic, we have provided these certified translation services for immigration since 1996.  In addition to being the leader in a wide variety of offline dictionaries, and award winning translation software applications, we provide real human powered certified translation services for immigration, businesses, and a wide variety of government institutions.

In addition to offering certified translation services for your documents, we also offer notarization services and shipment options so that you receive these translations via email and hard copy.

Word Magic Software, from its inception in 1989, is dedicated to offering a set of complementary software products geared for the English-Spanish language translation, corporate communications, and education markets.

The company was initially established as a personal project of Ricardo Argüello founder and current President, when he created a DOS based database dictionary and translator for teaching English to his children. A few years later, Windows versions of the Word Magic solutions were made commercially available.

A major milestone for the organization was circa 1996 when Word Magic became an early e-commerce pioneer, establishing its web site in order to market its newest version of Translation Dictionary & Tools (translation dictionaries) over the Internet. The company’s next product, the award-winning English-Spanish automatic text translator, was developed over the ensuing two years, and was launched in 1998 as ESI (English-Spanish Interpreter). This technology offers translation construction based on artificial intelligence, using the context and semantics of each individual sentence, producing translations into Spanish. The accuracy achieved is yet to be matched by others in the industry.
