La 'Nobleza' era una de los tres estamentos medievales y del Antiguo Régimen,
junto con el clero y el tercer estado. Su carácter preponderante fue
prácticamente abolido en la esfera política, ante la ausencia de legitimidad
de su dominio, frente a los argumentos ilustrados. En el ámbito social su
influencia se mantuvo, aun después de las Revoluciones Burguesas y Proletarias,
no obstante las permanentes presiones por eliminar una distinción introducida
entre seres humanos esencialmente iguales.
